PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

Functioning as an extension of the Christian home, Pike County Christian School supports parents who seek to obey the Biblical instruction, which gives them ultimate responsibility for the education of their children (Deuteronomy 6:7-8).

The Christian approach to learning differs significantly from the secular viewpoint.  Pike County Christian School offers a curriculum rooted in a God-centered view of life.  This view holds that God's truth is the standard for all truth.  The curriculum, taught by a Christian faculty, provides the student with academic instruction consistent with the Christ-centered teaching received at home and church. Pike County Christian School promotes itself as a Total Family Learning Center intent on meeting the educational needs of the student as well as assisting the parents in developing their child spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.  The school combines the traditional classroom teaching environment with a sound accelerated curriculum.  All student and teacher materials are examined by our faculty and approved by the school administration with the intent of providing a quality and comprehensive Christian education.  Christian educational publishers are used as the primary resource for the school's curriculum.  However, materials from secular publishers are used when the quality of the curriculum is clearly superior and is not in conflict with our Doctrinal Statement.

By God's grace, Pike County Christian School is established on the foundation of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  This ministry will prosper as long as we, the school board, administration, teachers, parents, and students remain faithful to the goals of this ministry and the Christian principles established in the Bible.

THE VICTOR'S BANNER

(Psalm 20:5)

Since the school's inception, our mascot has been the Christian warrior of Ephesians Chapter Six, with the following motto:

BOLDLY proclaiming the Gospel of our Savior and King, the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16).

ADVANCING God's Kingdom throughout all areas of His creation (Genesis 1:28  Matthew 28:18-20)

NURTURED by the teaching of the Holy Scriptures (II Timothy 3:14-17).

NOBLE in motive, in word and in deed (Colossians 3:17).

EAGER to follow the Lord wholeheartedly (Proverbs 3:5-6).

RESPONSIBLE for every personal thought, word and action in the eyes of Almighty God (I Corinthians 10:31).

THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD- Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.  Ephesians 6:10-20
